Stok Kangri & The Markha Valley

Stok Kangri standing 6121m tall is one of the highest peaks amongst the Zanskar and Ladakh ranges. The climb of this majestic mountain provides a superb and exhilarating trek. We visit the Buddhist monasteries of the Indus valley and enjoy unsurpassed views of the Karakoram peaks. Stok Kangri stands prominently on the southern skyline and is visible from Leh. We head into the Markha Valley before we try and conquer this peak. The trial leads through several remote and picturesque villages and monasteries to the high Nimaling Plain below the imposing peak of Kang Yatze. We will continue our preparation for Stok Kangri as we complete the popular Markha Valley trek. A three day approach to the base of the mountain includes the rarely travelled route through villages in the east. The climb of Stok Kangri is both challenging and interesting and offers a varied trekking peak holiday for someone seeking his or her first Himalayan summit.
