Challenging and interesting, the 18 days ride across the Indian Himalaya is an epic descent from the Khardung La (5380m.), the highest road pass on earth. The friendly people. rugged and spectacular landscape and the sheer challenge of flying to the Ladakhi capital of Leh makes it an astonishing experience. We spend 6 days acclimatizing and preparing for our classic trans-Himalayan adventure. We visit several of the area's colourful Buddhist monasteries, enjoy a day's whitewater rafting on the Indus, take an amazing jeep ride from Chilling in the Zanskar Gorge and also take on the challenge of the astonishing Khardung La. Then, heading south from Leh, we cross India's main Himalayan ranges by a series of 4 high passes, including the Taglang La (5280m.), the world's second highest road pass. En route, we are exposed to a tremendous variety of landscape and culture, from the high plateau of Ladakh, through the
semi-arid plains of Lahaul, to the lush greenery of the Kulu Valley. Offering an exciting blend of tough climbs and some of the best downhill in the world, set amongst ever-changing scenery, this is one of our favourite mountain biking holidays.
