Makalu & Sherpaani
It is the most difficult and challenging trek that Nepal has on offer. Previous trekking experience coupled with technical knowledge in climbing is a must to undertake this trek. It also requires you to be in a perfect condition physically and mentally as it can be heavily taxing on both the body and the mind. The trek follows a rarely trekked route along the Arun Valley and across the icefields of the Makalu and Barun Himal. As we go further we pass through a number of interesting villages that provide a look into the lives of the local people. The trail offers magnificent views of Mt. Makalu, Mt. Kanchenjunga and the Khumba-Karna mountain range, especially the 4,229m high Shipton-la and Khoma ridge. We continue along the normal trail to Sherson and across the foot of the Barun glacier. Here we make our final preparations to traverse of the three cols. Some of the terrain cannot be negotiated withouth the help of ropes and other equipments. While crossing some of the passes ropes will have to be fixed on the steepest and most exposed sections of the passes to ensure the smooth passage of the group. The crossing of the three cols provides a sense of accomplishment and a feeling of having conquered your inner self which is simply an unbeatable experience. The breathe-taking views of the central Himalayan peaks including impressive sights of Mt. Everest and Lhotse provide a very captivating backdrop to our adventure.
