The trek is passes through some of the most dramatic terrain. The high altitude passes of Mera La and Amphu Laptsa pose a challenge to even the season trekker. The trek begins with an adrenaline pumping flight to Lukla. We slowly make our way towards the east from the airhead. We spend some extra days en route to acclimatise and make ourselves ready for the crossing of the Mera La. The trek passes through wild and rarely visited vistas and we passes through unspoilt forests of rhododendron and pine before heading to the base of Mera peak. We continue our trek across the isolated upper Hongu Valley through snowfields, across morains and glaciers and glacial lakes. The trek offers amazing visual sights and the crossing of Amphu Lapcha poses a serious challenge and some technical expertise if required to carefully negotiate the pass. The trail goes on to join the main Khumbu trail where we get a taste of Sherpa culture and an insight into the lives of the famed mountain hardy people. From here we continue on the main trail through the villages of Tengboche and Namche to the airstrip at Lukla from where we make our way back to Kathmandu.
