Dhaulagiri & French
The location of Dhaulagiri provides for some of the most demanding treks that Nepal has on offer. It is a fascinating and varied trek which includes the taste of almost all the trekking environments which Nepal has to offer. The trail follows snowfields, glaciers and passes though high snow-covered passes that pose a great challenge to the trekker. This trek is only suited for fit individuals who wish to undertake an adventure of a lifetime. We drive to Beni from follow the Kali Gandaki valley. We start at a very low elevation and gradually gain altitude across lush terraced hillsides, passing many villages before entering the rugged terrain leading to Dhaulagiri. The route passes though magnificent gorges and enters the Dhaulagiri Base Camp and on to the French Pass. As we enter the Hidden Valley we are blessed with superb mountain views. We continue further and cross Thapa pass. From here onwards it is a long steep descent to join the Annapurna circuit trail. We pass through the Thakali villages of Marpha and Tukuche, the first habitation for many days.
