Everest North Ridge
The approach to Mount Everest is an amazing experience. The beautiful wind blown high altitude moonscape against the backdrop of some of the highest mountains in the world provide a great experience. +Mount Everest towers over towers above the Tibetan Plateau and has lures hundreds of climbers to test their climbing skills, determination and mental strength every year and realize their lifelonf dream. Everest expeditions during the 1920’s and 30’s were organized on this side of the mountain. Nepal had yet to open its doors to mountaineering activities. Since its first ascent by the Chinese in 1960, the North Ridge has been climbed numerous times. In the last few years it has received the attention of several commercial expeditions, and with careful planning the same success rates as the south side is possible. Easy accessibility and reduced logistical hassles has resulted in the increase of expeditions being attempted from this side of the mountain. However this route offers more challenges and difficulties than the south ridge. Members are exposed to the extremes of altitudes for longer periods. It also requires the climbers to be able to cope with the tougher physical demands imposed by the route. Technically the route poses the same challenges as the south ridge. Extensive mountaineering skills with technical knowledge are needed with previous experience over at least 6000 meters. Previous experience over 8000 meter peak will certainly be an advantage and increase your chances of success. Motivation, commitment and determination coupled with a strong mentally is needed.
