Amadablam
Often referred to as the Matterhorn of the East, Ama Dablam, is a towering figure that looms above Tengboche. Considered the most beautiful mountain in Nepal, the mountain at 6,812 meters offers various climbing routes some of which are the most technical and difficult routes. First climbed in 1961 by a joint expedition from the UK, US and New Zealand, the mountain provides a great introduction to climbing at altitude at the same time requires technical skills to negotiate the mountain. It offers exposed climbing from all sides and a terrific view from the summit. We follow the classic south west ridge which offers variety in terms of difficulty and technicalities. The trek to base camp is a very interesting trek. We spend some days in acclimatization in the Khumbu valley before we head for this famed mountain. We fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and then trek through Namche Bazaar and Thyangboche Monastery - before setting up base camp. Most of the route is fixed with rope to allow safe passage and tents will be placed in the camps by the Sherpa support team leaving you to concentrate entirely on your climbing. This allows you the greatest chance of success and makes sure the whole experience stays fun. The route passes through open rock face, snow and ice that require technical climbing and pervious mountaineering experience.
