This is truly off the beaten track experience with
breathtaking mountain vistas and amazing mountain
landscape. A relatively unknown and unexplored area it
provides a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of
city life and gives you a sense of isolation and
privacy. Away from the maddening crowd you can dictate
your own pace and visit this relatively untouched area.
Free from the trappings of modern life and exposure to
tourists, the region still retains the flavour of the
“real” Nepal. The trailhead begins in a remote village
and cuts through sparsely populated areas near the
Tibetan border giving you the sense of being on your own
and master of all you survey. We continue though verdant
forests on the route that once served as an
alternative-trading route between Nepal and Tibet.
Culturally enriching it provides a glimpse into the life
of the Sherpa people, the mountain hardy people of
Tibetan descent who inhabit the hills. We visit Bigu
Gompa monastery and a nunnery which is the cultural
highlight of the trip. The climb up the alpine meadow at
Tinshang Ri is an exhilarating experience as this
vantage point presents you with an amazing view of
Everest and its neighbouring peaks.
