Himalaya Expeditions is the only company in the Nepalese
Himalaya that has received environmental friendly
accreditation from UIAA, the highest alpine body of the

Responsible tourism
It is a known fact that tourism is a growing industry and it
is quite natural that the growth of the industry will also
have a negative impact on the environment and resources of a
host country. This is a very important issue that we take
seriously and do whatever we to can to reduce the impact. We
strongly advise that all non-biodegradable be brought back
to Kathmandu for proper disposition. As a part of our
responsible tourism drive we use local guides and locally
owned hotels so that the people can earn income from direct
employment or through the distribution of work
responsibility. Our programs are designed to work closely
with the people and the environment of the destination so
that the visitors can feel it to be an integral part of
their holiday experience. We make sure that firewood is
strictly prohibited unless the weather condition is
critical. During the trek proper clothing and equipment is
provided to porters. Regular orientation programs to educate
our trekking support crew on environmental conservation and
its importance are undertaken. HimEX Nepal is committed to
Responsible Tourism, providing welfare packages to its
porters, support staff and supporting Himalayan
Environmental Projects run by the local communities.

Equipment
We use state of the art equipment that has been carefully
selected to not only protect you from the weather but also
to accommodate you in comfort. Sherpas and porters are all
provided with the necessary gear that they need to stay warm
and dry when at high altitude. Camping equipment on a
regular trek would include high quality two men member
tents, mattresses, kitchen tent, toilet tent, mess tent,
tables, shower tents, shower pumps, folding toilet seats,
chairs with backrest, all kitchen equipment and all trips
that go above over 3500 mts are equipped with Gamow bags
(pressurized altitude chambers). Everything is provided for
except a sleeping bag which the clients would have to bring
on their own.
Support staff
We recognize that the staff is our most important asset. We
take immense pride in our excellent support crew who form
the backbone of all our trips. All our staffs are experts in
their field and the best in the business. They are well
trained and experienced to handle clients' individual needs.
Their knowledge on local culture and customs makes your trip
an extra exciting. We never consider cutting corners in
order to look only "cheap and competitive". It is a matter

our Sherpa Guides have remained almost unchanged throughout
the history of the company, and their experience and
expertise have been highly appreciated by all. All our Tour
Leaders have undergone leadership training and have had
intensive courses on mountain medicine, first aid and are
capable of handling emergency situations. They are deep
understanding and knowledge of the mountain culture and are
familiar with high altitude survival skills. The
preservation of the fragile Eco system is of utmost
importance to us and our support staff is made well aware of
the significance of preserving the environment. We conduct
regular orientation programs to educate our support crew.

Safety
We have been successfully organizing treks since the
inception of the company. Safety is number one priority for
us. Since most of the trekking regions do not have access to
roads and proper medical facilities safety of clients, staff
and porters is very important to us. We take every single
safety measure while operating trips. All our guides have
regular training on first-aid and safety management. They
are able to deal with whatever comes up in the way of
injury, illness or unexpected incidents. Our support staff
is also well equipped with communication devices so that
they can get help should a situation an emergency situation
arise.
