    Introduction

This fantastic excursion will take you to the Everest region in luxury and style. You'll see the charming Sherpa settlements of the Khumbu, take in stunning vistas of Himalayan giants like Mount Everest, and visit the base camp of Ama Dablam, one of Nepal's most beautiful mountains, as an extra bonus. Your vacation starts in Kathmandu. You travel from Kathmandu to Lukla, a high-altitude airport in the Himalayas, where you will begin your trek into Sherpa land, the Khumbu. This excursion will take you to some of the most beautiful villages within easy walking distance of Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital. Following landing in Lukla after an exhilarating flight, your trail leads you up the Dudh Kosi River valley to Namche Bazaar, with time to explore and acclimate to the altitude while taking in some stunning mountain vistas. Following your visit to Namche, you will go to Thyangboche, a famous monastery with spectacular views of Everest, and then to Pangboche, a charming settlement. You will have the option of taking a day journey to the foot of Ama Dablam, one of the most popular mountains in the Everest region, from Pangboche. The name Ama Dablam comes from the Sherpa word 'dablam,' which means 'mother's necklace.' The mountain's perpetual hanging glacier is said to resemble a 'dablam,' a piece of jewelry typically worn by Sherpa women. The base camp atop Ama Dablam is located at 4,567m/14984ft and will undoubtedly be a highlight of your journey. It's a beautiful and lonely place away from the main trekkers' path, and you'll have an enviable sense of solitude here. After that, your journey will take you north of Namche to the village of Thame, where you will stay in yet another excellent lodge in a superb, calm position away from the main trail with spectacular mountain views.

Itinerary

  • DAY 1
    Arrive Kathmandu

After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our staff will receive you and transfer you to the designated hotel.

  • DAY 2
Fly to Lukla. 45 mins flight. Trek to Monjo (2,850m/9,301ft). 5-6 hour trek.

The early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, as well as the landing at the little mountain airfield, will be remembered for a long time. The view is breathtaking, and as you scurry up the enormous valleys towards Lukla like a bug, the world's giants appear on the horizon. The trek to Phakding, 2,652m/8,700ft, will take about 2 hours, and you will most likely stop for lunch. To reach the track going up through Chaurikharka, the path first descends a steep, stony terrain. Porters, sherpas, trekkers, and the common beast of burden, the dzo, will all be encountered. The path follows the contours of the mountainside, passing lodges and the small hamlets of Ghat (8,169ft) and Chuthrawa (8,500ft). The walk passes big stones carved and painted with prayers, two large new suspension bridges, and large cliffs with trickling waterfalls. • DAY 3
    Acclimatization walk near Monjo.

Your Sherpa guide will take you on a day hike to Thakcho Hill, which is just above 3,000m/9,843ft, to help you acclimate. The views of the Kongde Ri, Thamserku, and Numbur Himal from this vantage point are breathtaking. The trip should take roughly 4 hours in total.

  • DAY 4
Trek to Namche Bazaar. (3,445m/11,300ft). 6 hour trek.

This will be one of the toughest days of your walk in terms of physical exertion, so go gently. The trail is full with interesting views in and of itself. As you climb higher up the trail, you'll get your first glimpse of Everest. The Everest National Park boundary is 15 minutes from the lodge, and the panorama is already breathtaking, with deep gorges, sheer vertical rock faces, pine woods clinging to steep slopes, and wispy waterfalls. After completing the paperwork, it takes 15 minutes to walk down the right bank of the river to the Hillary Bridge, which is named after Sir Edmund Hillary of Everest renown. This is an incredibly stunning suspension bridge that spans a large chasm. The trail then zigzags up through the forest, weaving its way between massive stones and cliffs. Small herds of thar, a small deer-like animal, may be seen if you're lucky. You eventually arrive at Namche Bazaar. On the steep walls of a sloping mountain bowl, Sherpa dwellings are built one on top of the other. Cyber cafés, souvenir shops, and places to rent/buy any piece of technology under the sun line the tiny alleyways in the heart of the city. Namche is a lively town that serves as the epicenter of activity in the Everest region. On their journey to the peaks, all expeditions pass through here, and there is a diverse range of countries sleeping in lodges or camping.

  • DAY 5
Sightseeing in Namche. Trek to Mende (3,700m/12,139ft). 3 - 4 hour trek.

Upon sightseeing in the beautiful and picturesque village of Namche bazaar, Today's journey will take you through the settlements of Khumjung and Khunde, across the top of Namche Bazaar, and up the Nangpo Dzangpo valley to Mende Lodge.

  • DAY 6
Trek to Thame (3,801m/12,471ft) and return to Mende. 5 hour trek.

A little trail curves away from the main road, passing above the larger villages of Dramo and Thomde. After about an hour, you will reach the Tibetan trade route, where you may encounter Tibetans who have crossed the Nangpa La, 5,716m/18,753ft, to trade in Namche Bazaar or to flee the Chinese control of Tibet. The trail then becomes a winding journey through the woods, with massive dark cliffs above and steep drops to the river below. The walkway, on the other hand, is well-formed and wide, but if there are yak trains passing through, stay on the uphill side. The trail then descends to a bridge that spans a narrow chasm with raging water below. Large wall murals of Guru Padmasambhava can be found here. The final push up to Thame demands a lot of determination (time to Thame is about 2 hours). After zipping past ancient moraine, you'll come to a nice stream on the left with enticing pools. Suddenly, you come to a crest and see Thame, one of the most beautiful villages you will ever see. There are scattered cottages, fenced fields, and gigantic snow and ice peaks in the background. In one of the lodges, you may relax and have a cup of tea. Sherpa Tenzing Norgay's residence, which he shared with his first wife, is located towards the top of the settlement. Because the trek back to Mende is all downhill now, it just takes about an hour, but you might take the higher level traverse to see another interesting monastery where Guru Rinpoche meditated. It is not occupied, but if you have the energy, it is certainly worth a visit. Griffon Vultures are likely to be seen today.

  • DAY 7
Trek to Tashinga (3,450m/11,023ft). 5 hour trek.

You may take a lovely high trek over the Imja Drengkha River from Pangboche. This trek winds its way down the valley, providing spectacular views of the mountains and Thyangboche, which sits atop its ridge. Look for Himalayan thar grazing amid the stones, as well as lammergeyer vultures, Himalayan griffon vultures, and golden eagles swooping overhead as you travel. After around 2-3 hours, you'll round a corner and see the solitary settlement of Phortse below you, perched on a peninsula with views of the Dudh Kosi in one direction and the Imja Drengka in the other. You continue your journey from Phortse, elevation 3,810 meters/12,500 feet, to Tashinga. You descend into the valley and ascend the Mong La. This section of the trail is densely forested. The towering views of the mountains from Mong La are spectacular. After there, you'll make your way to Tashinga.

  • DAY 8
Trek to Thyangboche and on to Pangboche (3,860m/12,665ft). 4 - 5 hour trek.

Looking over the valley this morning, you can see the trail slope diagonally up to Thyangboche's famous monastery, but first you must descend to the river. This takes half an hour to an hour, with a sequence of zigzags descending sharply to the Dudh Kosi River. You'll traverse a 3,200m/10,498ft suspension bridge in the shadow of a massive overhanging cliff. A little village called Phunki Tenga is a short distance away, where you can stop for a cup of tea. It takes 2-3 hours to walk from the bridge to the monastery at a calm and steady pace. You begin by ascending steeply through a pine forest, which is mercifully shaded, before emerging to go up a long gradual straight path that rises like a ramp to the monastery. You walk through a mandala gateway and a massive chorten on your journey to the top before seeing the gompa for the first time. The setting is quite stunning, and it's hard to believe that the temple was burned down only a few years ago and was rebuilt partly because to the Sir Edmund Hillary Trust's work.

There is a very fine Visitors' Center, and it is possible to sit inside the temple for afternoon prayers in the afternoon. The monks come, conch shells are blasted, and guests are expected to sit quietly on the temple's right side. A tiny donation would be greatly appreciated.

Your road descends through forests from Thyangboche to Deboche, where the modest and evocative nunnery is well worth a visit. The trail continues along the river valley through the trees, passing more residences and'mani' walls. The path steadily climbs after passing a bridge over a beautiful gorge, with amazing views of Ama Dablam ahead. As the height is climbed to reach the settlement of Pangboche, there are countless wonderful photo opportunities in both directions, as well as frequent chortens and mani walls. This is a wonderfully attractive village with stone walled farms and an intriguing monastery nestled in the trees at the top. This is most likely the Khumbu region's oldest monastery, possibly dating back to the Khumbu's earliest introduction of Buddhism. A 'yeti' scalp and claw used to be stored here, but they were stolen a few years ago.

  • DAY 9
Acclimatization day - excursion to Ama Dablam Base Camp (4,576m/15,014ft). 6 - 7 hour trek.

Ama Dablam, at 6,812 meters/22,349 feet, is one of Khumbu's most beloved and admired mountains. You can walk to the mountain's foot and take in its enormity. Ama Dablam Base Camp is located at 4,576m/15,013ft in an open yak pasture beneath the west face, with the summit nearly straight up above at 2,300m/7,500ft. • DAY 11
    Trek to Lobuche (4,931m/16,174ft) 5 - 6 hour trek.

Tawache, Ama Dablam, and Pokalde mountain, descend a gentle slope towards Pheriche valley and the village.Arrive at Thugla, where the Pheriche and Dingboche trails intersect, and then cross a little wooden bridge over a raging river fed by the Khumbu glacier, after a few hours of wonderful trekking. The cottages and lodge at Lobuche are tucked away in a corner, securely hidden and shielded from the elements.

Pumori 7,145m.Until the late 1980s, Gorakshep served as an early Everest base camp, with a few lodges and teahouses. After reaching the base camp, you then retrace your steps back towards Gorakshep for the overnight stay.

  • DAY 13
Ascend Kalapathar (5,545m/18,188ft), descend to Pheriche (4,280m/14,042ft) 7- 8 hour trek.
